Now that the dust has settled, reports are coming in that Jurassic World has scored the largest opening box office weekend of all time with a record haul of $209 million, besting the $207.4 million previous record set by The Avengers in 2012. Amazing numbers considering that the Jurassic Park franchise is over 20 years old and hasn’t had a sequel in over 10 years. With Furious 7 and Jurassic World, Universal Studios is flush with money-making franchises in 2015.
